Soon to hit in Theaters

These are the line ups of movies which are still in the planning phase or casting phase or still in the minds of the producers but is surely going to hit our theaters if not in 2010 but by 2011 or 2012.

THOR , CAPTAIN AMERICA and THE AVENGERS.

Looks like Marvel are rounding up movies with superheros who are part of the Avengers. Thor will be out in May 2011 while Captain America will be out in July 2011. Then Avengers will be out in May 2012.

PREACHER

Base in the graphic novel by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon under Vertigo comics a branch from DC.

THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN

This will be out in 2011. As some know Adventures of TinTin is a UK base comic book. I remember when I was a kid my mom bought me this so that I would at least know how to read well. ^^j

THE HOBBIT

With the success of LOTR trilogy there are speculations that finally the Hobbit movie will be casted and that New Zealand will be turning into middle earth once again. ^_^

DEADPOOL

Now since wolverine has his own movie... They will throw it a stand alone movie about DeadPool. Now I wonder when they will make a stand alone movie of Charles Xavier and his best friend Magneto?

DEATH NOTE

Oh god! I think Hollywood will ruin this again.

CONSTANTINE 2

So since a lot of graphic novels has their own sequel the producers of constantine wants to join the fun aswell.

~*~0~*~

And oh i forgot to mention in my the 2009 must see movie, BLOOD: the last vampire. Its base on anime which so far as the trailer goes looks good since they really got japanese actors or at least japanese looking actors for the role. I'm also watching this movie once it's out in the theaters.

Movies to anticipate in 2010

As early as this time of year there are movies already line up for 2010. These are:

January

The Book of Eli - starring Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman.

Cirque du Freak - This is your typical I'm-running-away-from-home-and-join-the-circus movie. In this movie you will see Salma Hayek with long thick beard.

Legion - Another biblical apocalypse movie, protect the pregnant woman cause her child is the 2nd coming of the messiah.

Tooth Fairy - The Rock will star this movie. I think this is a comedy since he will play as a real life tooth fairy. This is not the horror flick tooth fairy that is previously released.

Edge of Darkness - I guess Mel Gibson will take a rest in directing epic movies for awhile coz he will be starring in this movie.

February

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief - A boy release that his a decendent from the greek gods. Yes people, We are talking about the residents in mt. olympus. Uma Thurman will play as medusa while Pierce Brosnan is chiron

From Paris with Love - Looks like we would be seeing a lot of John Travolta this year and next coz he will be playing as the american spy in this movie who fell inlove in Paris.

The Crazies - It seems like Hollywood can't finish a full year without doing a remake coz this one is a remake of George Romero's 1973 film The Crazies and is being directed by Breck Eisner.

Hot Tub Time Machine - Starring John Cusack, Rob Corddry, and Craig Robinson, Like snakes in the plane movie. This movie title says its all. Yes, these three idiots traveled back in time using their hot tubs.

March

Alice in Wonderland - Directed by Tim Burton and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. Now tell me? Do I need more reason to convince you in watching this movie?

Piranha 3-D - Go ahead.. If you want to gross yourself out go buy a seat in IMAX and watch this movie.

Clash of the Titans - Another Greek movie remake. Sam Worthington will star this movie.

April

A Nightmare on Elm Street - Freddy Krueger is back. I think the trialler on this movie has been out in the big screen already. I remember it when I watched Star Trek recently.

The Expendables - Its not only Freedy Krueger but Sylvester Stallone is back in an action pack movie.

May

Iron Man 2 - Cool Robert Downy Jr. is back as Tony Stark. I thought he won't be playing as Tony but good thing his back in this project. I was not really a fan of him being IronMan since well we all know his rehab pass. But after seeing IronMan last year I say WOW he gave justice to both Ironman and Tony Stark. Now I wonder when they will show Avengers? (I heared there are some problems due to budgeting the movie and some Marvel DC rivalry in movies lately).

Robin Hood - Russell Crowe will be Robin Hood this time. Dang! another remake.

Shrek Goes Fourth - o.0 You know, this is the problem of hollywood. When the first movie hits the number1 charts they make sequels that gets ridiculous.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - Well you look at that... I thought I won't be seeing any game turn to movie in 2010. Guess I'm wrong. Jerry Bruckheimer is directing the movie under Disney Productions.

Sex and the City 2 - Okey Sex and the City fanatics you got what you want. Here's the sequel to the movie. However the script hasn't been written yet but plans have been made.

June

Kung Fu Kid - This is a remake in the karate kid movie back in the 80's. But since Jackie Chan is stepping in as Mr. Miyagi they made titled it Kung fu kid.

Footloose - This will be the musicak turned movie in the year 2010 starring High school musical actor Zac Efron.

Toy Story 3 - They just keep on going, and going and going.

The Green Hornet - Mmmm... does anyone remember this one way back in the 60's or 80's? Coz I sure do. This is the series where Bruce lee is the side kick of the green hornet back when he was not yet famous with his kung fu movies.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - well do I still need to explain this? *whines*

July

The Last Airbender - Now this is the Avatar movie base in the animation in Nickolodean. Dev Patel (Slamdog Millionaire) is the fire bender villian in this movie and M Night Shyamalan is directing the movie.

Predators - This is the 3rd reboot that has happened in Hollywood. First it was with superman then batman came second. Now they are rebooting the Predator Franchise. I hope Preddy will still be sexy and cool in this reboot. :p

The Sorcerer's Apprentice - I don't know if this is a movie base on Dandi Palmer's novel, But Disney is getting Nicolas Cage as the leading role.

Salt - Originaly Tom Cruise was casted on this movie, but later on they got Angelina Jolie instead. So instead of Edwin A as the lead roles name.. they changed it to Evelyn A.

Morning Glory - It's a comedy movie with Harrison Ford.

August

Priest - OMG! I was wondering what this is but when I searched it. Its... *drops jaw* my favorite Tokyo pop manga, their turning it into a movie. But I won't go stake my hopes to high acording to movie sneak peaks.. the story goes like this... A priest turnd against the church in order to save his kidnapped niece from a homicidal gang of vampires. o.0 This doesn't sound right. First HE (the priest) didn't turned against the church, he sold his sole inable to save the girl he loved. And those aren't vampires they are zombies... let loose by an occult who wanted to resurect a fallen angel which i forgot his name is. No, not lucifer. The real story of the priest is kinda twisted coz Ba'al offered him help to stop the resurection of the fallen angel.

September

Guardians of Ga'Hoole - Another children's book turn movie.

Red Dawn - Oh god! not another remake by MGM. Yes people this is a remake of the 1984 movie about Russia invading America.

November

A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas - I don't know about you guys but since White Castle came out I have been a huge fan with Harold and Kumar. However their sequel escape to guatamala isn't really that great. I hope this one is better then the 2nd one.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I - ok folks now we know the part1 of the last HP movie will be out november of next year.

December

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - well look what we have here... another Narnia book turn movie. Bah! they really skiped The magician's nephew and The boy and his horse book. But it won't be Disney studios anymore. Fox studios is making this happen.

The Smurfs - Eh? the little blue people who lives in mushrooms? yup it is, it is. And I guess it will be live action not on CG

2009 Must See Movies

I'm bored so here I am making another blog... A lot may know me as BookWench... and since I'll be talking about movies in this blog... So, MovieWench is born. Jan,Feb,March, April and May has come and go. We have seen Star Trek, Angels and Demons, Drag me to Hell, Night of the museum2 pass through our theaters. But what are the movies who are still coming our way in 2009. Here they are:

JUNE 2009

June 12 (Friday) *our independence day people* ^_^

The Taking of Pelham 123

Starring Denzel Washington and John Travolta and Directed by: Tony Scott, of numerous action classics, including Top Gun, The Last Boy Scout, Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State, Spy Game, and Deja Vu. A remake of the 1974 film of the same name that starred Walt Matthau.

Been awhile since I've seen JT (john travolta) in action. Last time I've seen him, he was wearing a wig and girl clothes and played mother of the star in HairSpray. It will be nice to see him once again in an action movie.

As of DW (Denzel Washington) It's been a long time that I haven't seen him in any movies. I am not really a DW fan but I know he is a good actor.

So here is Sony Picture's remake in the 1974 movie. (looks like Hollywood are either making remakes, or sequels and prequels or movies based on books, comics or game for the decade). The screenplay was written by Oscar winning screenwriter Brian Helgeland, of L.A. Confidential, Conspiracy Theory, Payback, Mystic River, and Man on Fire. So I doubt if it will be the same as the 1974 film, but I don't know I haven't watch the 1974 movie. Its a story about armed men hijacking a new york subway train, holding the passengers hostage in return for a ransom, and turning an ordinary day's work for dispatcher (DW) Walter Garbe into a face-off with the mastermind behind the crime.

June 24 (Wednesday)

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

This is hardly not a surprise. After all Optimus Prime sent out a signal into space to call forth his fellow autobots. So yah, Transformers2 is expected.

So here it is Transformers2: Revenge of the fallen. Like any other Transformers Geeks (now when i say geek these are the people who loved transformers even before micheal bay decided to direct this. I'm talking about people who practically grew up watching the cartoons both the anime version and the american version. Now if u know six shot then ur a Transformers Geek.) Now where was i, oh yah... so like any other Transformer geeks we all know that Megatron turns to Metatron eventually and optimus prime evolves to rudumos prime eventually. I don't know if in this movie MegaTron has already made his upgrades to his self. But i doubt it.

Story goes like this: The Autobots just defeated Megatron (which we all saw in Transformers1). Starscream returns to Cybertron and assumes command of the Decepticons, and has decided to return to Earth with force (well Starscream, as always is forever loyal to Megatron). The Autobots believing that peace was possible finds out that Megatron's dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox and revives him using his own spark. Now Megatron is back seeking revenge and with Starscream and more Decepticon reinforcements on the way, the Autobots with reinforcements of their own, may have more to deal with then meets the eye.

JULY 2009

July 1 (Wednesday)

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Now I really didn't expect another sequel for the Ice Age animation movie. But what do you know.. here it is. Again the squerel or whatever it is.. (sorry i dont know what specie he is) is still on the quest to get his nut. And as the title says,Dawn of the Dinosaurs.. well yah its the Dino-Era. We would still be seeing the original characters in this sequel. I don't know about u guys but I think I'll pass this one, or I'll just watch it in dvd.

Public Enemies

Now.. this on the other hand I don't want to miss withreasons: "JOHNNY" and "DEPP" :) hehehe... I've made myself one of the those girls who goes gaga over JD since I saw him in Pirents of the Carribean as Jack Sparrow and ever since then I've watch every single movie he did in theaters. Movie is directed by Michael Mann, of Heat, Ali, Collateral, and Miami Vice. Its a wonder Tim Burton didn't directed this movie since JD is in this. (oh a heads up for JD die hards... He might be or maybe its safe to say that he is THE mad hatter in Tim Burton's adaptation of Alice in wonderland that will be released in 2010). This movie is like Sweeny Todd meets Batman coz FBI pursuer Melvin Purvis is played by non other than Christian Bale (Batman: Dark knight). Set in the 1030's, John Dillinger is a famous bank robber that boasts about his robberies until Purvis caught him which later in the movie he escaped and the chase is on again. I have to be honest 80% of the reason why I'm watching this movie is due to JD and 20% is due to the action and the guns and the story.

July 15 (Wednesday)

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Princes

So here we go, the sixth book in J.K. Rowling's immensely popular series. They have all grown up to be fighting the he-who-must-not-be-named. Director David Yates is back to direct another Harry Potter movie. He was the one who directed the Order of the phoenix. I will be watching this movie just for the sake of comparing it with the book. You have to admit, there are a lot of books turned movies out there that sucks. So I hope this won't be another disappointment like some of the Harry Potter movies.

AUGUST 2009

August 7 (Friday)

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra

o.0 This is nostalgic. I remember the days when I watch this cartoons in RPN9 channel5 and I was what? 8 or was it 9 yrs old. Me and my sister practically grew up with this cartoon along side He-man, She-ra, Thundercats and transformers. And with an early age I believe I've been finding weird bad guys sexy coz I find Cobra Commander Sexy (go ahead.. go lol).

The movie i s directed by big action filmmaker Stephen Sommers, of The Jungle Book, Deep Rising, The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and Van Helsing. The screenplay was co-written by Stuart Beattie, of Collateral, Derailed, and 30 Days of Night previously, as well as Skip Woods, of Swordfish and Hitman.

I don't know about the story line yet in this movie yet. But in terms of casting. I say the casting director did a good job.

August 28 (Friday)

The Final Destination

Originally titled Final Destination4 is directed again by David R. Ellis, who directed Final Destination 2, Cellular, and Snakes on a Plane. Now this time its in the race track. Same scenario folks, lead actor and his friends escapes death because of the vision he sees. Now he thought he cheated death but death will be coming after him until he reach his final destination. Speculation states that this will be the last final destination installment and it will be in 3D.. o.0 no way am i spending 500 bucks in Imax just to gross me out or worst loose lunch. But if your kind of horror is all shouting and decapitation and gore will you better try it in 3D.

SEPTEMBER 2009

September 9 (Wednesday)

9

9 is both written and directed by visionary filmmaker Shane Acker, of two previous animated shorts The Hangnail and The Astounding Talents of Mr. Grenade. The screenplay was co-written by Acker and Pamela Pettler (Corpse Bride, Monster House). This is another animation that is not for kids. The movie takes place in a world parallel to our own, in which humanity is threatened. A group of rag dolls living a post-apocalyptic existence find one of their own, 9, who may be the key to their survival.

The animation is quite familiar if u have seen corpse bride and nightmare before christmas. Its because originaly Tim Burton suppose to be directing this but instead he helped produce this film.

September 11 (Friday)

Whiteout

After watchmen comes another graphic novel turned movie. The movie is an adaptation of Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber's graphic novel of the same title. This time there isn't any superheros in costumes involved. Directed by ex-music video director Dominic Sena, of Gone in Sixty Seconds and Swordfish. Story is about a U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko (played by Kate Beckinsale) tracks a killer in Antarctica, as the sun is about to set for six months.

OCTOBER 2009

October 23 (Friday)

Astro Boy

My first love of my life. o.0 yes I'm serious, I'm not kidding. I practically cry and whine when i was a k id if I miss an episode of Astroboy and my father will be furious coz he can't watch his PBAs because of it. Bwahahahaha. Ok back to the blogging. First of this year I have known already that th ere w ill be an Astroboy movie along side with the news of the dragon ball movie which shattered my imagination of goku. So I didn't expect much about the AstroBoy movie coz Hollywood is always good in screwing up anime if they turn it into movies. Heck! even the asian horrors they do turns out bad. So when I finally saw the thriller of the Astroboy movie, I let out the breath that I have been holding. Thank God its Animated!

Directed by ex-Disney animator David Bowers, of Flushed Away previously, with a screenplay written by Timothy Harris, of Brewster's Millions, Kindergarten Cop, and Space Jam. Set in futuristic Metro City, AstroBoy is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist to replace the son he has lost. Unable to fulfill the grieving father's expectations, our hero embarks on a journey in search of acceptance, experiencing betrayal and a netherworld of robot gladiators, before he returns to save Metro City and reconcile with the man who had rejected him. This is like a modern day Pinocchio. This is another movie where I wouldn't be surprised if they do a sequel on it.

Saw VI

NOVEMBER 2009

A Christmas Carol

Disney is going out for From Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol starring Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge encountering a ghost. We all know what the story is about and the name Scrooge is what we call people who are stingie and unpleasant even if its christmas time. ROFL I would highly recommend my previous bosses to watch this movie. They might learn something out from it lol.

The movie is both written and directed by filmmaker extraordinaire Robert Zemeckis, of everything from Back to the Future to Who Framed Roger Rabbit to Forrest Gump to Contact to his past CGI movies The Polar Express and Beowulf previously.

November 20 (Friday)

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

Ok emos here is the release date of new moon. I really don't like the book let alone the movie. So this is just for the benefit for the people who are gaga over the twilight series. And i beg to correct. THIS IS NOT THE BEST VAMPIRE SERIES! apparently the journalist or whoever tagged this series as the best vamp series haven't read any vampire series at all. I bet Jean-Claude can wipe out Edward's clan in one single hand gesture and enslave the werewolves by just a wink. ROFL even Lestat can kick any sparkling vampire butt to non-existence.

November 25 (Wednesday)

Ninja Assassin

OMG RAIN! I bet kpop fans will go gaga over this movie since the leading actor is Rain. F or those who is not familiar with Rain, his a gasso that starts in various korean telenovelas and the korea sparkling ad on t.v well so is the clear shampoo ad his also in it. Ninja Assassin follows Raizo (Rain), one of the deadliest assassins in the world. Taken from the streets as a child, he was transformed into a trained killer by the Ozunu Clan, a secret society whose very existence is considered a myth. But haunted by the merciless execution of his friend by the Clan, Raizo breaks free from them… and vanishes. Now he waits, preparing to exact his revenge. Directed by Australian filmmaker James McTeigue, who worke d as second unit director under the Wachowskis on the Matrix trilogy before directing V for Vendetta.

Old Dogs

In the middle of this year we will be seeing John Trivolta in action with the remake of The taking of Pelham 123. Nearing the end of the year, we will be seeing JT again in a comedy movie with renown actor Robert Williams (genie in disney's alladin). Movie is about Two friends are unexpectedly charged with the care of 6-year-old twins while on the verge of the biggest business deal of their lives.

DECEMBER 2009

December 11 (Friday)

The Princess and the Frog

For nearly a decade animation has gone from drawing board to CGI. After Disney's Tarzan... Disney has been releasing cgi animations. But in this years The Princess and the Frog, Disney went back to its classic drawn animation. Not only that but they are back in making another f airy tale into princess into a disney princess. The movie is co-directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, whom previously brought us the Disney classics Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, and Treasure Planet. Now we all know how this story goes but we never know how disney will deliver it. So if your like me who loved collecting the drawn animation of Disney, now this is a must see. I'm also looking forward to its soundtrack.

December 18 (Friday)

Avatar

It is not clear if this will be in CGI or live action movie. Guys this isn't the Avatar in Nickolodean channel. This is a diff

erent movie directed by James Cameron (we all know him as the director of Titanic.)

The movie is set in a distant future where humanity discovers the planet 'Alpha Centauri B-4', and for those scientists and astronauts who've traversed the gulf between neighboring suns and arrived on its alien soil know it as 'Pandora'. A world filled with an incredible diversity of beautiful and deadly ammonia-breathing lifeforms. Its also a world that harbors treasures and resources almost beyond price. But just as the original Pandora's Box wrought devastation on those who would use it for their own gain, so too this world may destroy not just the Pandorans home, but ours as well.

How ever THERE IS an Avatar movie which will be directed by non other then M. Night Shyamalan, director of horror movies such as lady in the water and The Village. And Dev Patel the lead actor in Slamdog Millionaire will star the movie as the firebender named Zuko. And newcomer Noah Ringer will play as Aang. I still don't know when they will be the release date of this movie.

December 25 (Friday)

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel

There is not much about this squeakuel but it is indeed in Hollywoods roster of movies to be released this year.

Sherlock Holmes

From Iron man to the famous detective Sherlock Holmes. However Robert Downey Jr. won't be alone in solving crimes he has Jude Law with him. Movie is directed by British filmmaker Guy Ritchie, of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Revolver, and RocknRolla. Nothing much to explain here... we all know who Sherlock Holmes is. As he once said.. "It is elementary my dear Dr. Watson."

To rap it up these are the movies worth waiting for this year. So join me in watching it and come back each month for my movie reviews in each movies listed here whenever they are shown in our local theaters. Some maybe shown in IMAX but its not a garrantee that it will be in 3D. Sometimes SM shows movies in IMAX that aren't even 3D.
